Finding myself and finding my way

What do you do when you feel lost and don’t know where you’re heading?

How do you get out of this confusing ‘funk’ where nothing seems clear and everything feels overwhelming?

Let’s go back a little and see where it all started (most likely).

2020 sucked!

2020 was hard for all of us, but it’s been even more challenging for others.

At the end of 2019, I was already ready to have an easy year. I needed a break to slow down and recover from traumas and burnout from previous years.

But even before 2020 sh**storm has kicked off, I knew that 2020 won’t be anything as I had hoped and planned. Another unexpected family situation has turned my world upside down and put all my personal plans and goals on hold… again…

Then the pandemic hit the whole world, just in case I wasn’t already dealing with a lot.

And even though on the surface it might have looked like I’m dealing with things just fine, deep down there was more and more darkness and confusion growing. And over time, it became harder to share, explain or even understand what’s going on, where it all started and mainly what do to with it.

So I kept quiet, I kept inactive and hoping that the pandemic will be over soon and I’ll be able to escape somewhere new and remote to deal with everything. Well, that didn’t work!

Let’s go back and see where it all started (most likely).

A couple of years ago, I used to write short weekly blog posts titled ‘What I learnt this week’. Here I wrote about my learnings about various topics, from business, marketing to personal stories. It was my way of processing all the challenges of being self-employed and flying solo while trying to navigate a new life in a new country.

And it helped me a lot to put my thoughts and discoveries onto ‘paper’ and share them with others.

But as I got busier and took on more side projects, I run of out time and headspace to regularly write these posts. So for the next couple of years, I stuck only with occasional business and marketing blogs. More education and tips, less journaling and storytelling.

Then when all the bad things started happening in my personal life and it started reflecting in my business, it was too late to start writing again. I didn’t have the headspace, clarity nor the habit of regularly writing. So I did nothing, hoping that one day miraculously, things will get clearer.

Starting again

It wasn’t that easy or straightforward, but things got a bit more under control in the past few weeks. And the need, passion and excitement to start writing and sharing slowly came back again!

Over the holidays I scribbled down tones of ideas, takeaways, thoughts I’d like to discuss, lessons I’m pondering and a lot more…

But mainly, I’ve realised that I’m really missing meaningful interactions with awesome people. Random conversations, sharing of wins and troubles, meeting new people and getting to know them as well as knowing that there are other people out there dealing with similar issues!

So I’d like to start writing regular updates all around Finding myself and finding my way.

I hope that you’ll find these posts interesting, inspiring and that you’ll be able to resonate with some of the stuff I’ve been dealing with (and I still am dealing with a lot). Hopefully, it’ll be not only a helpful process of reflection for myself but also a reminder to you that it’s ok to struggle. It’s ok to stop and start again, it’s ok to be lost and take the time to find your way again.

That’s my first step on my journey. I’m starting again and I’m looking forward to sharing all the ups and downs with you!
